Google`s Driver Less Car



California took the fast lane to the future on Tuesday when Governor Jerry Brown signed a law that lets self-driving cars onto public roads.

Brown rode to the signing ceremony at Google headquarters in the passenger seat of a vehicle that steered itself, a Prius modified by Google. Google co-founder Sergey Brin and State Senator Alex Padilla, who sponsored the bill, were along for the ride. An engineer for the technology company, Chris Urmson, sat in the driver's seat, but the car drove itself.

"We're looking at science fiction becoming tomorrow's reality," Brown said just before signing the bill.

Google has been working on self-driving technology since 2010, including testing a fleet of self-driving cars along California roadways.

Google's driverless cars rely on video cameras, radar sensors, lasers and a database of information collected from manually driven cars to help navigation, according to the company.

The new law goes into effect next year and establishes safety and performance regulations for testing driverless cars, provided an operator is ready to take control if necessary.

However, it will likely take years before a fully self-driving autonomous vehicle hits the road, industry official say.

"I think the self-driving car can really dramatically improve the quality of life," said Brin, who pointed to uses ranging from aiding the blind, ferrying revellers who drank too much, to simply making better use of commuting time.

He added that by driving closer together more safely than human-driven cars, self-driven cars might cut congestion.

But Google has no plans to build its own driverless cars.
"We have had great conversations with a variety of automakers," he said. "Anything we do is going to be in partnership with the industry."

The technology has been in the works since the 1950s, when General Motors showed off "dream cars" with features such as autopilot. Recently, car makers have started incorporating into today's models some elements based on the innovations in those early vehicles, including adaptive cruise control or traffic-jam technologies that can slow the car automatically.

Carmakers developing autonomous technologies include BMW, Ford Motor, General Motors, Honda Motor, Hyundai Motor, Mercedes, Nissan Motor, Toyota Motor, Volkswagen and Volvo, as well as suppliers, technology companies and universities.

Chip company Intel created a $100 million fund in February to invest in future auto technology.
Nevada and Florida have already passed laws allowing self-driving cars.

Inside the biggest shopping mall on the planet

This is the Dubai Mall — an absolutely massive shopping center in Dubai, UAE that's part of the $20 billion Burj Khalifa complex.

It first opened in 2008 to much fanfare, and it boasts a variety of things to do aside from shop at its 600+ stores. The mall has a 22-screen movie theater, a replica of London's Regent Street, an Olympic-sized ice skating rink and much more.

The mall is now the world's most-visited shopping destination, having attracted upwards of 54 million visitors in 2011.

It has such a reputation that Apple may be interested in opening its first store in the Middle East there, according to the Dubai Chronicle.

Outside the Dubai Mall there's a gorgeous promenade where people hang out.

The mall hosts a lot of events. Here's a fashion show with a runway right in the middle of one of the mall's open areas.

The aquarium in the mall is home to more than 33,000 marine animals and the massive viewing panel holds the Guinness World Record for largest acrylic panel.

There's even a shark tunnel for your viewing pleasure.

The mall is also home to an Olympic-sized ice skating rink — the first of its kind in Dubai.

The interior is beautifully decorated, too.

This section is called the Star Atrium — you can see how it got the name.

The mall has a Fashion Avenue and a lot of care went into the design. Look at that ceiling.

One of the most prominent features in the mall is this huge waterfall.

 

The divers on the waterfall are made of fiberglass, and serve to "create a dynamic visual spectrum that complements the rhythmic flow of water."

 

The Gold Souk is another touted feature of the mall. It has more than 200 stores.

 

There are many atria throughout the mall, and they're all immaculately decorated.

 

The Reel Cinema is a huge, 22-screen cineplex that has more than 2,800 seats. It's the largest cinema in the region.

 

The place has an indoor theme park called SEGA Republic, mostly dedicated to SEGA's popular video game character Sonic the Hedgehog.

 

The Grove, an avenue of restaurants, has all sorts of cuisine — from local to continental to Mediterranean to Asian.

 

"At The Top" is a viewing area on the 124th floor of the Burj Khalifa, the skyscraper connected to the mall. It's home to the highest outdoor public observation terrace in the country.

 

Outside at night, there's a fountain show that attracts a big crowd.

 

The backdrop is nice too.

Created exclusively for the Hyundai Motor Group's Exhibition Pavilion, the amazing moving 3D display has huge walls of moving blocks that generate various patterns.

The author of the "Hyper-Matrix" is a South Korean art collective called Jonpasang. The team used thousands of styrofoam cubes, each measuring 1 inch. The cubes are pushed in and out by stepping motor actuators, with the latter being controlled by a computer.


The wall was mainly created for entertainment, rather than informational purpose. Nevertheless the construction is very cool.

Indian and Chinese authorities have confirmed the existence of an underground UFO base in the Himalayas.


Kongka La is the low ridge pass in the Himalayas in the disputed India-China border area in Ladakh. The Chinese held northeastern part is known as Aksai Chin and Indian South West is known as Ladakh. This was where Indian and Chinese army fought major war in 1962. The area is one of the least accessed area in the world and by agreement the two countries do not patrol that part of the border.

This is where the underground UFO base is located.


According to the locals on the Indian and Chinese side, this is where UFOs are seen coming out of the ground on a regular basis. According to many, the UFO underground bases are in this region and both the Indian and Chinese Government haven known this for a very, very long time.


They are publicly confirming its existence.

“India has found an active UFO base in The Himalayas. We are working with China and the U.N. to discuss how to handle this alien incursion,” said Indian Defense Minister, A.K. Antony. “We do not want our people to be alarmed. We are confident we can contain this threat from an alien culture.”
Recently, some Hindu pilgrims on their way to Mount Kailash from the Western pass, came across strange lights in the sky. The local guides while in the Chinese territory told them that this was nothing new and is a normal phenomenon from Kongka Pass area the tensed border between India and China. They were first turned by the Chinese guard posts as they were refused entry from the Chinese side and then when they tried to approach the site from Indian side, the Indian border patrol also turned them down in spite of their permit to travel between the two countries.

One of the pilgrims (Sukhbir Siwach) is a writer for The Times of India (the biggest English language newspaper in India) and he had planned an expose on the cover-up of the alien base by India. The government was unable to stop him (a brave writer) — so the Indian government went public with information, some say in order to “control” the information.

Pentagon Successfully Tests Hypersonic Flying Bomb

WASHINGTON — The Pentagon on Thursday held a successful test flight of a flying bomb that travels faster than the speed of sound and will give military planners the ability to strike targets anywhere in the world in less than a hour.


Launched by rocket from Hawaii at 1130 GMT, the "Advanced Hypersonic Weapon," or AHW, glided through the upper atmosphere over the Pacific "at hypersonic speed" before hitting its target on the Kwajalein atoll in the Marshall Islands, a Pentagon statement said.

Kwajalein is about 2,500 miles (4,000 kilometers) southwest of Hawaii. The Pentagon did not say what top speeds were reached by the vehicle, which unlike a ballistic missile is maneuverable.
Scientists classify hypersonic speeds as those that exceed Mach 5 -- or five times the speed of sound -- 3,728 miles (6,000 kilometers) an hour.

The test aimed to gather data on "aerodynamics, navigation, guidance and control, and thermal protection technologies," said Lieutenant Colonel Melinda Morgan, a Pentagon spokeswoman.

The US Army's AHW project is part of the "Prompt Global Strike" program which seeks to give the US military the means to deliver conventional weapons anywhere in the world within an hour.
On August 11, the Pentagon test flew another hypersonic glider dubbed HTV-2, which is capable of flying 27,000 kilometers per hour, but it was a failure.

The AHW's range is less than that of the HTV-2, the Congressional Research Service said in a report, without providing specifics.

The Pentagon has invested 239.9 million dollars in the Global Strike program this year, including 69 million for the flying bomb tested Thursday, CRS said.

World’s Fastest Computer

IBM’s Sequoia Supercomputer Takes Title of World’s Fastest:

 

IBM Sequoia is a petascale Blue Gene/Q supercomputer constructed by IBM for the National Nuclear Security Administration as part of the Advanced Simulation and Computing Program (ASC). It was delivered to the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) in 2011 and was fully deployed in June 2012.





On 14 June 2012, the TOP500 Project Committee announced that Sequoia replaced the K computer as the world's fastest supercomputer, with a LINPACK performance of 16.32 petaflops, 55% faster than the K computer's 10.51 petaflops, using 123% more sockets than the K computer's 705,024 sockets. Sequoia is also more energy efficient, as it consumes 7.9 MW, 37% less than the K computer's 12.6 MW.

The entire supercomputer runs on Linux, with Compute Node Linux running on over 98,000 nodes, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux running on 768 I/O nodes that are connected to the filesystem.

For the first time in two years, the world’s fastest supercomputer is here in the States. Knocking Fujitsu’s K Computer (repping Japan) to second place, IBM’s Sequoia is now the fastest computer on the face of the Earth, capable of calculating equations that would have taken three days for a 1993 supercomputer in less than a second. The unparalleled processing power of this beast is to be turned toward simulations that aim to extend the life of older nuclear weapons, helping to eliminate the need for actual tests.

The Sequoia is 1.5 times faster than Japan’s K Computer and uses over 1.5 million processors whereas the K Computer uses around half that amount. Even with the extra processors, Sequia is markedly more efficient than its Japanese rival, requiring only 7.9 megawatts to the K Computer’s 12.6. All in all, Sequoia is 273,930 times faster than its ancestor, the CM-5/1024 designed by Thinking Machines, and can do in an hour what 6.7 billion people with hand calculators would need 320 solid years (no breaks) to accomplish.

Thomas Beatie is one of the most famous men in the world. He was pregnant and brought three children to the world. Although Beatie is legally a man, he was not actually one when he got pregnant, he was transgender and he kept his feminine reproductive parts. When he married Nancy, in 2003, they chose to let him carry their babies, as she was infertile. The couple used cryogenic donated sperm and Beatie “solved the problem” in the privacy of their own home. The experience was later related in The Advocate. In 2008, Beatie gave birth for the first time, to Susan Juliette, on June 29. One year later, on June 9, he gave birth to a boy that he and his wife named Austin Alexander. On July 25, 2010, Beatie gave birth to their last child, another boy, Jensen James. Since then, he had phalloplasty in order to have a penis and he mentioned that he also considers having a hysterectomy. Unfortunately, his marriage with Nancy is now over. One of the main problem is not the divorce, as many people live this sad experience, but the reason for which the couple decided to part ways. Beatie accuses now Nancy she is an abusive alcoholic and she is violent. Apparently, all these years their marriage wasn’t so happy as they wanted to make believe.

 

             One proof that will probably help Beatie in the divorce is a short footage he made at home when he found his wife passed out in their children’s room. When she woke up she was violent to the kids and to Beatie, but he caught all on tape. In the video, Nancy is clearly wasted, she screams and she trows with things. Allegedly, she also attacked Beatie several times. Captures from the footages leaked online and it became clear to everyone that he is the one that deserves to have the sole custody of their children, as requested.

 In present, Beatie lives in Arizona. He recently filled for bankruptcy and he and his three kids are currently living on welfare.
